So what's it going to be?

Ok. My dad said no more tanks right now, so i am going to start chipping in on the water bill and doing more jobs to show him it's not something i don't care about. So when he finally says that we are in a better situation and that he realizes i am paying my own way (which i always have) he will give in on a 10-20g tank. So then i will pickup a nice pair of NTT datnoids, grow them to roughly the size of my GT (4-5"), put them in the 55g and see how they fair, if things get rough i will sell one of them, and start saving for a 125-180g. It totally depends on the time, money status and the temperament of my GT.

I have read that NTTs usually stay smaller than ITs, also i like the cleaner look of NTTs.

look in the second hand market , you can get a nice big tank as an 250 gallon for next to nothing .

Only problem is that is in another "good" 4.3 years or soo..... Also i have to do several years of college, than i get a girl friend, than i have to get a house, by the time i have my own REAL place it will be like 13-17 years from now.....

Plan on living at your parents house that whole time?

No, i plan on being in college and getting a decent house.

There's plenty of people on these boards who are currently renting and have tanks large enough for a Datnoid. Your answers bring up even bigger questions, as well. If college is your excuse for getting a big tank right his second then what do you plan on doing with said tank when you do venture out to college? Do you just plan on leaving it for your parents. Now that's responsible fishkeeping, huh? REAL responsible.

Who said i was going to leave my tank with my parents? I plan to tear it down, and keep everything except the fish, than when i have space i will take the tank back and start up again.

In that case, do it. Get a dat. I will totally watch it while you're at college.
