there's a town in south america somewhere that welcomes an invasion of ants.. they go through everyone's house and pick up every single piece of whatever crap they find.. food particles, dead bugs.. etc etc.. I guess the town loves them. ..my mom/ex-wife/practically every woman I know would freak out and kill them all if they could..

I was actually learned about that in my Animal Behavior class. The army ants actually will eat everything in their path. When these hordes enter the village, everyone actually has to vacate, so they don't get attacked horribly by these ants. Obviously, you'd have to lie down still in order to be eaten by them, but getting stung by hundreds of them isn't fun either. But the villagers still in general like the ants because in addition to nasty food and other insects, they wipe out all rats and such as well.

even thou the count on themselves cant be counted or monitored, should we simply give up?

guess this is one reason of many reasons why environmentalists fight for their cause.

Cockroaches actually don't often carry diseases, and when they do, it's usually incidental.

I don't kill insects or spiders, and the only time I do something about them is when there's a big spider in my house...cup it and put it outside.

Although, I try to do something about fire ants. I feel bad about it, but they're an invasive species so I feel like I have to do something.

True. The roaches harbor other organisms that carry the diseases. The roaches generally can't transmit these diseases directly to humans, but if a person ingested something a roach walked on, then that could deliver the disease.

Nevertheless, unless someone comes up with some cold hard evidence that indicates that life as we know it would cease without their existence, I still think the planet could get along okay without roaches...I'll be generous...we can just eliminate the American and German species. I don't mind the others.

Not only do I think insects should have rights I think they should be able to vote. It would make election day very interesting............................:D

Any insect that invades my house sits before the Court of Wurm. All insects are subject to prejudice and are sentenced without trial to death by Bass. If an insect would like to appeal a ruling, they must wait a few days to pass the digestive system.

lol :D
