I've had my shovelnose for the past 2 weeks and he always looks skinny to me like he hasnt eaten. I give him, along with my CK, rosie reds. I know they're being eaten cuz there's always a fewer number of them in the morning but IDK if my shovelnose is eating them. I've tried frozen bloodworms and beefheart and he didnt touch them. Im thinking about trying mealworms or superworms, what do u guys think? Thanks

How big is the shovelnose? And what ind of shovelnose, TSN, LSN? If it's a lima I've always found them to be pickier eaters. If I have a stubborn one I raise the temp a bit and keep a constant supply of feeders in there and try bloodworms or other meaty foods.

You could also try some frozen foods. They are lots of varities offered. Just add some tank water to a plastic cup to let the food thaw before adding it to the tank. When adding the food to the tank, you may want to turn your filter off so that the food doesn't get sucked into the filter right away.

I would stop feeding live food or you will never get the cat to take pellets or frozen.

Its a TSN. He's 5inches long and I have tried frozen. What are silver sides? I was also looking at Hikarki Massivore pellets?

If you get Massivore, you may want to cut the pellet in half as your TSN isn't very big yet.

Mine went on a 3 month long hunger strike when it was 4 inches then started taking everything from pellets to roast beef. Give him time and he will eat.

Hikari sinking carnivore pellets are a better bet at that size, they are just like massivore but smaller. Live nightcrawlers almost always works or feeders

I've tried sinking carnivirous pellets and whenever they got close to him he swam away. Whenever I would leave them at one of his resting spots, he wouldnt touch them or just wouldnt go there. I think I may just have to give him more time, Im not sure.

Live nightcrawlers as in worms from my backyard or mealworms? I was thinking about going this route.
