Shovelnose shedding

I would not doubt that it is normal for some species, after all the marine parrot fish do it every night.
 
Soribum Lima shed their slime coats due to anything from water, to stress, to being startled, to just cause they feel it's time to ditch it and get a new one.
Most of the time, it's probably just 'cause they needs new coat (assuming everything else is in order).
Mine sheds his usually after eating a big meal, the next morning. She's weird though in general.
