show and tell time (jags)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Here's mine. He's about 13" now and for the most part, pretty mellow as I've raised him with other fish... but if any other fish in the tank challenges him, look out! :nilly: :FIREdevil

Nice Jags everyone! Always nice to see a good "Jag" thread ...:headbang2

Could you guys who posted pics also post what and when you feed them to see why the colours are what they are. some awesome looking jags BTW

Here's my new girl. She's about 7-8" and very shy.

Except in these pictures. :D

This was her first day. Since then, she hasnt done much at all. No one bothers her and she just hangs out.

Here is shot of my heavyset 12 inch male. Perfectly passive, tolerates all tankmates, nice to have a monster that does not kill everything else off(very unlike my former red terror)

Feeding regime
Cichlid pellets
smelt
beefheart
prawns
earthworms

He eats it all

That is exactly what I feed mine.

Jaggy is close to 13" and is very aggressive but we think this is due in part to him being in a small tank (90 gallon) and the fact that it is viewable on all sides located in an open area of the house. Looks great this way but somewhat more stressfull on the him we think, Even so he, has faired well, is healthy and gets treated like the family pet he is. He won't take any crap though.. the proof was recently when he engulfed a 4" male convict that was nippin' his tail (see photo). The convict was placed in the Jag's tank after it was terrorizing some other fish in another tank we have. Funny thing was the convict was with him for a few months before this happened. Not sure if I liken this to aggression but a confirmation and reminder that yes, jags are guapotes and have the necessary jaw/mouth structure to inhale some substantial meals (or in this case a pesty tankmate) quite effectively!
Great jags everyone, lets see more....
