They are not rare in the wild but seldom imported for some reason, I have never seen them for sale in the US but a UK member has at least one and they are apparently popular in Denmark and Germany. They get a max of usually at around 6-7", and do well in slightly acidic water of pH 6-7. They are related to gouramis and build bubble nests. They are native from Singapore through Malaysia. They tolerate others of their own kind if they have room for territories, don't bother fish to big to eat (they have huge protrusible mouths, and don't bother bottom fish.
