Ya, I think I still prefer the sand look... maybe small gravel. Thanks for the pics! I think I have enough time to keep it looking good that I shouldn't have to worry too much.

There's a subtle hint of troll in this bread to ask for barebottom pics and then say "yah they suck". but i keep all my tanks with sand it looks awesome.

one thing i regret about using substrate that actually makes me want to use bare bottom however, is when live food or pellets make it to the bottom of the tank and my fish get a mouthfull of sand when they try to eat it and they can't possibly like that. pluss sand doesn't digest i don't think. not to mention VERY often gets kicked up and sucked into the filter. so theres always a foresight to replace some lost media and cleeeeeaaaaan tediously out of your filter crannys and rottor.

Ya see, that looks really plane to me. Anyone have some that have some decals in it? I don't know if I could just have fish floating around in a bare tank...

haha man, a tank with decals... pimp my tank. put some pinstripes and flames on it's borders :D

It depends on what fish... top swimmers... they don't care too much... bottom dwellers - they'd prefer some gravel but it dosen't have to be that way.

I like this one....I'll take two please..

If you have young fish that you are growing out BB is great, you can power feed without much concern. Once they become adults switch to a substrate.

Bare bottom. Planted.
