It's playsand mixed with peat.
is that the best to avoid impaction? because i really like sand but fear impaction even though it is rare :(

Me too. I've been wanting to put mine on sand, but I would have to train them to accept melaworms more I guess.

I would advise you to get a breeding pair of a male and female!!!
They are easy to breed!(stand back and watch him "rape" her!
and then the incubation is simple and easy!!
Plus you can sell them back to the LPS for credit and stuff!!!!\
Or sell them yourself for money!!!

Wow you paid over $1000 for that? You got ripped off.

It's a nice setup, but the tank doesn't cost even half of that brand new, the sand is cheap, the rocks can be found for pennies by the pound, and that cat/dog food bowl isn't very spendy either (otherwise you would've bout a reptile 'specialty' one).

An auto mister can be made for about $15-20, or get that one from petco/etc.. for $35 I think.

Ok, this how it works. If your gecko is an adult size and healthy, if it ingests a little sand, it won't hurt it. A healthy gecko can pass it no problem. If your gecko is eating sand like the one in that other thread then there's a problem. It obviously is not getting all the nutrition it needs. That's why it's eating sand, it's trying to gain calcium. As long as you dust the food or supply a dish of calcium, normal play sand with about 1/4 peat added to it works fine. Oh yeah, and a moist hide is a must. I've been using this setup for over 15 years and I haven't had any issues. Some people will disagree with me and that's fine. I'm just telling you what has worked for me.

Yeah that and you shouldn't need an auto mister for leopard geckos.

He did say the mister was for collards, but it's not clear if they are in the same viv.

I'll add for Myteemouse, it's not about the cost of the viv, it's the knowledge that goes into planning the design that counts.
