I grew them up in a 75g. They are peaceful until they become sexually mature. I removed the females as soon as they paired up to eliminate spawning aggression. I was able to maintain a balance of power with an all male group of 4 to 5 for a long time until one died and the population thinned out. They are only aggressive to one another, never other fish. But I have the milder strain as other strains can be a lot more aggressive.

That's what interested me in them is the fact that they can live with other fish. I'm considering putting my green terror in the tank in my front room with a couple other fish and putting my flowerhorn in my room in the 60 gallon. What type of fish can potentially live with my Green terror long term?

***75 Gallon*** 1 Flowerhorn ***60 Gallon*** 2 Angelfish, 1 African Rope Fish, 1 Musk Turtle, 1 Green Terror, 1 Knight Goby, 1 Rainbow Goby, 2 Glo Fish,1 Columbian Spotted Pleco and 4 Giant Danios ***

Here is a couple of my Favorite ever fish George(RIP) He jumped out of the tank about a year ago when I was out of town

Wow!!! That's a monster GT!!! I bet it took forever for him to get to that size. I'm sure you were pissed when he died.

Yes I was pretty upset.. Of course there is only a few inches by the overflow and that is where he leaped to his death.. Things happen

I have been keeping GT for nearly 20 years, posted a lot on GTs, never get tired of them, and will likely keep them forever. I kept FH briefly for one year, get sick of them quickly, and will not try again. GT is a gentler and kinder FH that can be kept with tankmates.

Here are youtubes of my GTs, including many that have passed on.

Hi there, wonderful bunch of green terrors, quick question did you grow the males up together , I have 1 male green terror that I bought in a pair but the younger one didn't make it to 5-6" so I'm left with one 5-6" green terror, I was hoping to add another 3 males ideally not interested in breeding them just love their colours. The green terror is currently in my 11ftLx4ftWx3ftH aquarium, with other cichlids such as red tiger jaguar cichlids 5-7", Oscar's 4-5", polleni cichlids 4-5", 2x red tail black sharks 6-7" clown knifes16-18", silver arowanas 27-28", hardly any fights.

I raised mine together, just took out females leaving only males behind. It’s very hard to add males and expect them to get along at adulescent size. It’s safer to keep solo males at your size.

tiger15 tiger15 Ive been meaning to ask for a while now, how big has your largest male gotten? Since you have put so many years into keeping them I figured you’re the person to ask. :)

I’d love to see mine hit 12” but I’m wondering if that’s unrealistic.

It’s debatable how large GT can get. Ive not seen with proof that GT can exceed 12 inch. My largest male GT was 10 inch, which I measured with a ruler.
