I can't go too wide because it's going in my living room and I told the wife I'm just upgrading to acrylic....LOL...HAHAHA....

But this 400 will be perfect for my needs.

Damn, my only problem is where to put all my fish during the transition...LOL...

A few 5g buckets will do just fine

Grab like 3 or 4 of the rubbermaid tubs that are like 40L. They have never failed me during my many moves.

Judging from that last photo, you'd have an easier time widening out to 8 feet than thickening up to 3.... it'll bump into that chair!

I actually just noticed the first page of that East/West thread for the first time... not only is it shockingly old (2005!) but you had a 96x48 footprint! Holy sh-t! Just get another one like that. (only taller, heh) Tell her you got a deal you couldn't pass up. And then distract her with [something she really really likes] and that will be that.

The 600 I had back when was in my fish room. Also had a 360, 180 and 125 all in the room. But my little girl was born and the time I had to spend with my hobby was never the same.. so now my fish room is storage =-( Also, I had to go outside to enjoy my fish =-( .... much better when it's in the living room. I'm actually sad that this tank may be gone because having the background just really makes it pleasant to look at. Pictures are fine but in person it's really something else...

Perhaps when all the kids are moved out is when I'll pursue re-doing my fish room.

Yea, I'll probably grab a rubbermaid tub and turn it into a temporary tank. reason i need to keep the filters, well at least the FX5.
