The main pump is 2950gph so... take about 15-20 minutes to empty most of it.

But it takes several hours to fill it back up. ROFL

Luckily I only need to do a water change every month or so when the Nitrate gets too high.

I only keep cold water fish and turtles.

Went I start filling the tank the water is around 72F and it drops to 68F by the time its full. (Over several hours)

If it drops to much I stop for about an hour to let the water heater do it's thing and then I start filling the pond again.

Also, the water heater at my place pretty large.

Yeah very true but I run out of hot water filling up my 180. How do you manage that?

I have the same problem (not enough hot water on tap)
I have my pond hookt up to my cold water supply and i keep a continuous drip going (4 L/h 1G/h) with overflow going in to a drain

This eliminates al problems i had with heating because the little water i ad gets mixed in and gets heated by the system and a added bonus i don't have to do water changes ever again.

I refresh 5000L very month on a 5500L pond

Indeed a drip would be the only way to do it!
