I have two. both about 6-7" one lives in a 46g with two 4.5-5.5" rocket gar and a 3" sailfin pleco, they all get along great. the other is in a 20g by himself for a week until my 55g comes. I should have pix in a few days.

The second one I've had for a week, it only took a few hours before the established (slightly smaller) one started picking on him, so he got moved right away.

The one in the 46g is a total bastard tho. He will break tank decs to get inside and hide....

the only fish in my tank he doesnt mess with are my two gars especially my 16" who has tried and almost succeded a couple times at eating him:irked:

i have read alot about these and would love to keep one but am a bit confused as in the older literature (3-15 years old) it states that they get to 24" and need a 5'x2'x2' tank to themselves or larger with other fish, but recently has had a name change from H.Nemurus to H.Wykioides and now they grow to 38" or larger and weigh around 80kg!!! And if that wasn't enough H.Nemurus is still a valid species but without the red tail! All the older ones i saw were def Wykioides 'cause they had a red tail so do they grow to 24" or not ? And new literature also states that they are worse than H.Wykii in temperament! Can someone help me out here please:confused:  :D :)

All the research i have done, and believe me there isn't much info out there, says that the ones that we have only get to 24". I still refer to mine as nemurus.

Bsixxx, How much did you pay for yours?

My lfs had the for 10 dollars. i would have gotten one but i dont have the room.

and it was only about an inch smaller:irked:

i would love to own one some day, here in uk i have seen a 10" Asian Red Tail for £89.95 which i think is really expensive and 8" wykii for £79.95 wish i lived in USA!!!

I stopped at a lfs in Madison, WI and saw one that was 18"-21" it was gorgeous. Bright red tail and the whiskers were almost as long as him, I can't wait until mine grow. The owner had him in a tank with various cichlids. It was a tiny tank too, couldn't have been more than 35g.
