cane that's not a florida gar, it's a gator for sure.

You have a future 10 foot monster :D

Where did you buy it?

i thought aligaters were all one colour on top . and florida spotted ' so to me it looks like a florida. i am a newbe so thanks for puting me right as i am looking for a florida. would i be right in saying a aligater gar has two rows of teeth

This was my old Aligater gar the only pic i have.

(Cuban gar and tropical gar are similar to alligator gar—i.e. two rows of teeth—but they occur in Cuba and South America) by the presence of two rows of large teeth on either side of the upper jaw in large young and adults. Coloration is generally brown or olive on the upper body and may have a spotted pattern. Their bellies and undersides are lighter colored.

i can see why cane thought he had a florida . i cant tell the difference from canes pic and pics ive seen on this site posted as florida gars

Gators are a totally different colour, they have smaller spots, and MUCH wider snouts. Floridas and spotted have very slender snouts, a gator's snout is almost as wide as it's body, and it's snout is slightly shorter.

And yup, 2 rows of teeth.

OMG!! nice gars everyone!
Have to take some new pic of my spotted... almost 5" hehe
