Out Back In The Woods!
Hopeing to recieve my Jau Tues or Wens from a Stand up fellow MFK'er so stoked to get this little guy/girl been lookin for 1 for 5 yrs a dream come true... Post pics of your Jau(s) wanna see the size difference, info on growth, etc... will post pics of mine when it arrives and settles in nicely...
 
Nobody On MFK Has a Jau? Very Strange Ive seen pics of Jau's from this site in the past wonder why their not chiming in on such a true giant of the deep semi-cold fast flowing rivers of south america...
 
Got the Jau in but hard to get any Pics all it wants to do is Hide all the time fed Heavily Thurs had a fat stomach check this mornin had a flat stomach tried to feed and would not take gonna give it a few more days will try to take a vid of him eating... any suggestion on getting him outta the cave more other than removing the cave itself... love the fish but its boring looking at an empty tank due to hiding all day... you might see 10sec of him at night... swims to one end of the tank and right back into the cave... maybe 2 times a night... you have to put the food in front of his cave in order for him to eat or he wont come out to eat all you see is whiskers thats it... Beautiful fish none the less but hate all the hiding...
 
I guess it is small. 3" or so? The bigger they get the less they will hide but that will take a while. They grow 2-3 times slower than say an RTC or a TSN. At about 6"-8" mine were comfortable in a bare 120 gal tank so I could see them all the time and they would exercise/swim wildly for hours on end, mostly at night but sometimes during the day too. Before that I'd rarely seen them but there were plenty of non-hiders in my tanks.

BTW, they will not tolerate each other either at about the same size.
