I guess it is small. 3" or so? The bigger they get the less they will hide but that will take a while. They grow 2-3 times slower than say an RTC or a TSN. At about 6"-8" mine were comfortable in a bare 120 gal tank so I could see them all the time and they would exercise/swim wildly for hours on end, mostly at night but sometimes during the day too. Before that I'd rarely seen them but there were plenty of non-hiders in my tanks.

BTW, they will not tolerate each other either at about the same size.

he is approx 10" in size only one in the tank currently... hides all day and comes out at night swims 2 to 3 laps in the tank and right back into the cave

I have x 2 of these beautiful fish.
One at around 10" & one around 4".

1st Pic is the larger fish when it was about 5".
The 2nd picture is the smaller one.
