Just be aware they get large - i put mine into an aquarium that is 8ft long and 4ft wide. Obviously they don't need an aquarium that large but a 10 definitely won't do...I was recently thinking about getting a few of these... Looks awesome!
Yup.. They'd go in a 6ft 180.. I haven't pulled the trigger yet, but they're on my short list... I read they can exhibit conspecific aggression..Just be aware they get large - i put mine into an aquarium that is 8ft long and 4ft wide. Sounds like my experience with Pseudohemiodon apithanos except they were submerged below the sand so you'd only see 2 eyes. It was kool seeing them wake up as soon as food hit the water... I still regret moving them and I'm currently iso the "Red" variant. Those Planiloricaria cryptodon are kind of weird - they found a spot near the front to settle and just sort of died for the day - the next morning still dead when i put in food - that got their attention and they scurry over and ate gobs and went back to their original spot and just kind of died again.
Yea i have a group of 4 in the same 500; i actually have sp apithnaos which ware black and white - lovely fish - haven't seen for sale for a couple of years now.
