Hi everybody.

A little discussion in an other thread made me think of this:

Please show pictures of your retropinnis here! Lets see if there are any differences in coloration and shape...

I wonder how many retro-keepers we have here...

Hi,

do all three pictures show the same retro? What does the variation in color come from? Seems to be the same bottom...

Very nice! I love the eyes of retros...

PS:
Mine are 12 and 10 inches...

I have two, one is about 5" the other is 5.5"

ToRif, I'm surprised by how much green yours show even on white sand. I bet they would look even better on black sand, very beautiful olive colored retros you have.

Yes, thats what made me wonderung too. I havent see so dark "green" retros on white sand before.
In th next tank i will try darker Sand an we`ll see what the retros will look like...
My retailer told me they were Imported from Nigeria, but i always thought that they were only found in Congo an Ogouue River..

yes the same fish.
Pic 1: Just introduced into the tank and still a bit stressed and colorless
Pic 2: A few months later, showing normal coloring
Pic 3: A close up with a macro lens + flash that brings out all that color. Other pics were not taken using flash.

Maybe it was caught from Congo and sent to Nigeria and was ship to your supplier. My supplier actually does the same thing. His from Nigeria but he's able to get bichirs from other places in West Africa. Maybe your supplier is dealing with the same person as I'm dealing.
