Showcasing my red & golden arowana

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
:WHOA: Very nice!! Thanks for sharing!

i guess if you dont mind then do it :) but if it were me id just keep it like that as the chipped scales would heal

Beautiful fish. Just amazing.

If scales don't heal after 6 months then pull. Mine all healed within 6 mos except 2. They will take 2-3 mos to re-grow and up to 6 get their color back sometimes more. If you are using carbon in your filter, I recommend removing it.

Nice fish BTW. Both are nice pieces. I like the yellow gold on your aro. Similar to my own.

thx all for ur comments ...

Beautiful. I would be tempted to pull the scales. It will probably take 9 months to grow back, but still tempting.

yup, i'm very tempted to do that too ... but still considering...

awesome awesome aros and rays. are they kept together?

yes, they are kept together. started breeding my mantilla sp since last year, so i cleared all other tank mates... however, i've upgraded the rays to pearls & pdr, so breeding has stopped for now ...

If it is any help, i noticed that my BB's scales became less chipped over time ... may be time heals all.

yikes, i would not definitely pull scales ... i don't even know how to do that (i did not even know people did that)

here in sunny singapore, we have someone doing minor surgery on aros ...
aro doc does housecalls too ...
personally, i've done some minor ops on my aros too ... hahahaa...

those with minor chipped scales will heal by themselves ... but those already out of shape needs to be rremoved ...

im still trying to figure out why in the heck you would pull scales of a fish....thats cruel i believe....lets just say ill pull out your toe nails and see if they grow back with a different shape....just my opinion

the fish will be sedated first, then the ops is done ...
still not decided, will wait a while more to see if there's improvement before deciding ...
