shrimp as male betta tank mates?

Thanks guys, lots of useful info to consider. There is off course always the choice to let my guy have the tank to himself. I definitely wasn't too give the tank a little longer to stabilize, so I've got a week or 3 to mull it over. The betta surely doesn't need a tank mate. I just have a fish problem, lol. Always want one more ?

Do you have any specific shrimp foods you'd recommend?

Distracting the betta should be pretty easy. He knows when it's feeding time and is very attentive to chasing his floating food in the mild surface current the filter makes.

Bacter AE is great to build up the biofilm they need. Crab cuisine or making up your own snail jello with tums to get them the calcium they need. Other than that, I just drop in small bottom feeder wafers.
