Ok, this should probably be an obvious answer, but I just want to make sure! We've always gotten our rays shrimp from the grocery store that was prebagged and unprepared. Is the (uncooked) shrimp from the deli pretty much the same, and un-fiddled with? We don't eat shrimp ourselves (hubby has death allergy, lol!), so I don't know what it's like even from a human consumption standpoint. I'm going to stick with the bags, but in a pinch I didn't know if the deli would be ok to feed.

Thanks in advance, I appreciate it!

My local store said the loose shrimp that's on ice in the seafood section is the same as the bagged stuff - they simply open the bags of frozen shrimp. If by deli you mean the cold meat/cheese section, I'd be fairly surprised if they were doing anything different.

If you can, get them eating something else too (tilapia is a popular choice and usually cheaper than shrimp) so that your "in a pinch" is even less likely to be necessary.

Awesome, thanks for the info (and yes, I was referring to the shrimp on ice)! Getting them switched over is my goal...these two are just being a bit stubborn in the transitional process!

Thanks again - I appreciate it!
