I've talked to a number of people who have done allenii crayfish (blue, white, orange) with cherry shrimp, they even sat and ate algae tabs together. This is not to say that it works every time.

I got breeding p. allenii/hybrids in the same tank with breeding cherries.

Plus crays give you more attention when you walk past the tank, raise a claw or two.
