So I have a planted 200 litre tank which has 14-16 neon tetras, 6 gold tetras and 1 ram.
Unfortunately I am suffering slime on the mopani that has been there for a good 2 weeks. I have been impatient boiling it, disturbing the slime and resorting to turkey basting the majority off.
I put two amano shrimp in a vain hope to maybe clear some but they've disappeared overnight (unfortunately the bag submerged before proper acclimation so unsure if fish got them or shock - either way cannot see them)
I am due a puffer in the next month in this tank so fully aware snails or shrimp are going to get eaten (which having a breeding colony in there would not be a bad thing).
But which would you go for? Ramshorn snails or shrimp (ie. cherry or try amano again)? I wouldn't want snails to completely take over
