id recommend the shubunkin as well. i had mine (his name was frank) for about 3 years in a 10g tank, and i did like 20% water changes every 4 months, so they are very hardy, but that was a time when i knew nothing except their color and their price. he eventually got nitrate poisoning and died but he lasted a long time. pretty fish

i remember that once i gave him to my lfs i tested the water for nitrates and they were off the chart, and after several 50% changes, they still were
