Shy clown loach

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
everything was unplugged except the internet cable, which was still in the modem. Along with the modem, the router was also fried, and the motherboard on 2 computers has to be replaced.

Its behavior hasn't changed. I'm not positive, but it looks pretty thin, like its belly might be sunken in. Does anyone have an explanation? I am worried it is going to die eventually.

Must be the dreaded skinny disease. Read Ewurm's blog for a possible cure.

Use levamisole hydrochloride for this case. 2-3 mg per liter dose is reocmmended.

So I should quarantine and treat with that? I don't even know if it is skinny disease.

I have never seen it eat, do loaches with this disease stop eating?

And any idea where I can get that stuff?

I saw it today, and it has numerous bites on its tail fin. The other loaches must be causing this? They are too small to have been caused by anything else. I have no idea if it even has skinny disease. It seemed healthy and fat when I bought it, and the thinness now could easily be due to the others not letting it eat. I am going to take it out and QT it in a 10 gallon. Anything I should add? Salt? Raised temperature? And even if it does heal, what is going to happen when I put it back in the 75?

They don't stop eating, but they continue to waste away.

Just try to quarantine and add levamisole hydrochloride and keep temperature steady at 80 degrees. Ewurm is right. The fish will simply continue to waste away while still eating. At the stage where the skull becomes pronounced, there is no more hope for that fish.

How do you know it is even sick? It could be thin from the disease, or because it never eats. It is quarantined now though, and I'll see if it gets any worse.

The fish simply grows thinner as time passes.
