My 11" dovii is still shy as well. I bought him a couple of girlfriends that I am growing out now so hopefully once he has a woman he'll come out of his shell a little.
My Male and Female pair are still shy to this day I have to turn the light on before I go next to the tank. Wife found that out the hard way when the Female jumped ship but didn't get far. She was fine the Fish and wife was scared to death...
