LOL... assuming I am around for that, I don't know whether the cost/reward ratio there is worth it

Where did you get her? I have been trying to find a female festae.

get her a male to make her feel comfortable. or mail her to me

I have had a female Festae for about a year now, and I can't for the life of me figure out why she hides whenever she sees me. She is about 6in so there is no possibility of adding any dithers. She is also in a 80 gallon tank. Anyone have any suggestions? I have some juvi Aequidens Rivulutus in the tank next to her and they act similarly.

could it possibly be because of your avatar?
lol jokes!

A festae male is an awesome idea!............unless your F is 3-4 years old and 12" an 80 gal is a great starter for festae pairs. After a few years you'll need a 125 but festae don't grow as fast as Oscars. Festaes are kinda personality weird, they draw confidence in numbers as juvi's and thru size as adults..............don't expect a glassbanger because festae are more cautious than curious. Festae basically find a mate, make a home, defend their home with the voracity of a bengal tiger, then breed. They will do this for life.

Not upgrading the tank. I think I am probably going to go with rapps recommendation(add a Chancho and a citrinellus) or try someone else's

hmmm you really should try a male in there with a divider...and see how she acts.

all my festae in the past were SUPER shy before they were like a few years old then they were still very cautious.

any pics? and good luck bro!

Seriously, add a male, in a 80gal, I'd house 4 breeding pairs. Here a pair in a 20gal, females a glass banging MoFo when I get next to her eggs! Good Luck, post a pic of her fione asz!
