It will take him a while to figure out it's safe to come out. Fish generally do not do well by themselves and will try to hide most of the time if given the chance, especially when they're introduced to a new environment. You did well by getting some dithers.

Thanks. But it seems like my firemouth is terrified of me. Whenver he sees me he clams up. Earlier I was nowhere near the tank; just in eyeshot, and he sped away and took cover in between the sicklet stone and the glass?

What type of fish is a "sickled"?:grinno:
My lil guy/"cichlid" is scaredof me too, I've had him almost a month & he still runs & hides even though he's the alpha male in the tank.

He'll come out & stare @ me, but if I make any movement he just takes off.
Sticking in your hand will only scare you "cichlid" more.
I say give it time, they'll find their courage sooner or later.

I know it's spelled cichlid, but if you sound it out, it should be spelled sickled. Hence, I intend on spelling it the way it's pronounced. If a deaf person seen those 2 words, which one do you think he would pronounce correct?

He's beginning to come out more and more now that I got the tb's in with him. He's still afraid of his shadow though. It's comical, cause he's a decent sized fish too.
