Yeah my Largemouth Bass is only like 5 inches long and he is awesome.
I was actually reading in a web site a few months back, that studies show that Largemouth Bass have a very strong intelligence level compared to many fish.
They found out that Largemouth Bass are able to use memory as a source of reason in everyday life. They are not capable of reasoning things out like we do , but they use their experiences or better say memory as their tool for survival. They can distinguish to some extent, things that are good and bad.
I'll give you one funny example....
I am currently selling my Longears because I am overcrowding my tank.
But when I first got them, they were stuck out for 7 days in the USPS warehouse awaiting transport to my house....(Always put a tracking number).
So they were originally sent out Priority Shipping which is suppose to take no more than (2-3 days). It turns out they showed up 7 days later and ALIVE!!! Poor things.....
After a while of getting them adjusted to the new tank where my Largemouth Bass and Channel Cat are, I decided to put one of the 2 inch female Longears in the tank and the Bass ran upto it and and attempted to open his mouth and swallow her by the tail twice. I tapped on the glass and yelled NO!!!!!!!!
I know your all like " idiot its not a dog"
So anyway, after I did that , he just looked at me like "ok." and turned around and looked at the Longear again and moved his eyes looking at her all intrigued and then swam away.
Now he hangs out with them and does not even bother them...
LOL in fact the male Longear picks in the Largemouth Bass over the territory.
So pretty much what I am trying to say is that Bass are ver intelligent are are very much able to identify certain things.
