Shy Oscars

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No more feeders dude!!!! Your fish will eventually get sick and die if you keep doing this and it sounds like you do it often. Not to mention the fact that they are not getting the nutrients they need so you could be stunting their growth. If your tank is large enough then I would add a couple of SD's to it but if it's only 80 gallons then I don't think it is. Make sure your heater is working as well. Cold temps will make them sluggish.

I do a water change every week, on Friday.

How much water do you add though.

I add around the same amount as I take.

NO FLIPPIN' DUH!

I wish I could delete stupid peoples posts, life would be much easier.

ADD: I have the measurements. 37" long, 21" tall, 15" wide at average.
I'm sorry, but were you calling me stupid? You- the one with two oscars and two large growing catfish in a 55 gallon tank, all of which are feeding exclusively on feeders- are going to call me- the guys who you know nothing about and is trying to help your fish- stupid? And just so you know, Midas Madness was asking how many gallons/ percent you change. I would think it's obvious that you would add the same amount as you took out... And you're calling me stupid...:screwy:

Where is the dead horse smiley on here? because it sure is getting a beating in this thread. I'd take what he says with a grain of salt since he is a kid and well kids like to be smartasses when someone is just trying to help them out.

it is you and many others who need to calm down. he has mentioned that he knows its not good to feed "feeders" now that we've told him and alot of you don't read everything, merely the first page, then post what has already been posted, then he gets mad and you guys tell HIM to chill out?

he already explained his will to change IE: stop feeding goldfish and start feeding other things. he has told us the dimensions which is what we asked for. he is getting mad that everybody repeats the same thing over and over again when he already heard it in the first posts that explained so. you merely frustrate him and flame him when hes telling you everything he can. he NEVER said hes adding more fish to the tank so i don't know how these weirdos are scolding him for that for.

he just started fish keeping. sometimes even the thought of doing your research is a step further than new hobbyists are aware of.

ok now back to YOU OP; oscar man. if it is indeed a 55gal your tank is too small of course you know that now. you must upgrade to 125+ if you wish to keep your stock for life. but the bright side is you will have a 55g for the convicts. and sorry that everybody is bashing you. all we need to know now is your nitrate and we can give you advice from there.

though the outcome will eventually end up in you upgrading to at least a 6 foot long tank or getting rid of your oscars and catfish. both are fine options, you may want to look into jack dempseys/ other smaller cichlids if you choose to give up your oscar setup.

As already stated, when i said how much I ment like 10g etc...

I agree with Retuks, you will either need to upgrade soon or return your oscars. A better fish would maybe be a single green terror instead.

I just thought that I should point out that I am also a kid, but when I ask for help, I don't insult the people trying to help me. I did in fact read every single post in this thread, so it's not like I was writing something random. I was simply stating my opinion on the matter, which, btw was that he should take it one step at a time a not worry about setting up a new tank for feeders until he figured out what was up with his fish. I thought this was a valid opinion, but apparently I'm stupid so what do I know?

I agree, this thread is getting really old and he isn't being respectful to some people here. But, when you explode on him, your just making the situation worse.
