the fish are in one tank but it has glass dividers so the fish can see each other but cannot get at each other. the one that is sick has his heater ,filter + stones and thats it. i was thinking for a while that he banged his head on something but it spread a bit. he is still happy tho.

Is it still spreading? The main thing with bettas is people generally keep them way too cold at room temperature. They do better at 86F or 30C. I've talked many people through betta ailments primarily using heat.

Sorry, I dunno what it would be. It could be a fungal infection or a low grade bacterial infection, or it could just be an injury. It's impossible to know exactly what it is without a picture or seeing the fish.

Like Tokis mentioned, you can try melafix and pimafix, but personally I haven't had any luck with them on most stuff. Worth a try anyway.

What are the water parameters? Sometimes an injury can turn into a persistant infection that does't necessarily spread much, but won't go away unless the water is cleaned up.
