Wow it takes him 10 min to eat 1 cricket at a foot long, he must be hurting?

Mine loves the floating hikari sticks with the arowana on the bag. I have treated arowana in the past for parasites and other problems and I was wondering, have you put in anything in the water to treat the cloudy eye and the fin rot? I also use that primafix I think it is called with the aloe in it, should help slime coat.

Good luck.

i treated him with tetracycline for a week the pet store i got the tetracycline at is over an hour away, i had to get the kind that treats the water since at that time, he wasnt eating any thing,

i havent treated since then, ive been doing water changes every day, and the eye cloud looks much better, the fins are still alittle torn, but it almost looks like the bottom fins are coming back to gether, the top are still frayed and i believe hes missing some scales, the bottom of his body is discolored in like 2 or 3 places, i think maybe the scales fell off, so im hopin they will grow back at some point,

and yeah i saved this fish dont think im the one responsible for all these problems, the guy didnt know a thing about them when he got them

and!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH, he just ate his first slice of pork!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hes gettting faster at eating, it only took him 5 mins to eat 2, 2 inch slices of pork, and i plan on changing 15 gallons of water tonight when im off work, thank soooo much,

do you think i should still be feeding crickets? since i got him to eat meat? should i rotate and give both? or stop giving crickets? since eating crickets is kind of a bad habit

?????

Good to hear he is recovering. As far as feeding goes I would limit the crickets to once a week, before feeding the cricket to the aro feed the crickets shaved carrots. Pork should also be limited, not really an ideal fish food. Try feeding the frozen raw market shrimp(thawed first). You can also stuff the shrimp with a quality pellet/food stick.

Ideally you will want to get him eating pellets along with a variety of other foods(read this Foods For Aros), but you may have to starve it to get it to eat pellets. I would wait until completely recovered before attempting to starve.

before i fed the crickets to him, i gut loaded them with collard greens, i even thought about feeding them fish food lol

:)

oh and yeah so he ate pork yesterday and i offered him food today, no go, he didnt even seem intrested, maybe still full from the pork?

yeah il grab some shrimp, thats an awesome idea to put the fish food in the shrimp, i didnt think of that

well... sadly, there is another problem....

hes eating every day now, (still on crickets, but im puting small cichlid pellets in the VERY THIN strips of pork that he eats) and the fins are coming back together!!! which is great... but...

there is a very small white dot on his tail (on the fin) i study him daily, for long periods of time so that i can tell if hes getting better... i do believe thats ich... ehhh

so, i raised the temp, and put in some jungle brand ich clear (which i know isnt the best med. in the world) any one have any advice?

i will not lose this fish
