1 of my Dats did get these "white heads" around the 3" mark. They would come and go, but the fish never really got sick. It ate like a pig and eventually the "white heads" stopped. They never effected my other fish.

I know this doesn't explain what it is, or how to treat it, but thats my experience with it.

Oh, and I never fed this Dat live food, so (in my case atleast) it wasn't from its food.

This is how mine started. I thought nothing of it and just let it ride.

A few months later it came back much worse.

I currently have one datnoid that I have had to isolate because it got very bad.

Like you said...they act normal, eat normal and show no kinds of sickness like heavy breathing etc.

When the sores get bad they form huge lumps around the gills and eyes and then explode.

I am treating with Metronidazole.

I have no idea how my datnoids got it...I have heard a few hobbyists say that all datnoids are born with it :screwy:...I have no facts that can back that up though.

Thanks for the reply! Im definitely going to try that medicine. I hope i can fix this problem, I never noticed anything wrong with any fish until i fed my big dat some leftover shiners.
