sick devil!?

my red devil all of the sudden went into passive-shy mode this morning. he's not eating, hiding under his little cave, and is moving in a darty motion. before today, he was a lively aggressive, large appetite fish. whats going on?

40% water is changed weekly, good filteration and water movement.

Have you checked the water params and temp? My friends RD did the same thing and it was b/c his heater quit working and the water got cold...

If everything is in check, he's probably just having a bad week. If it goes on for over 10 days, then you got trouble.

had the same problem with mine. he had a case of bloat. i was told to do frequent water changes, and add aquarium salt. after a few days as good as new. but had to cut down on his food intake. he is much more active now.

thanks for all the input. the heater is working fine at 80 degrees, that would be a cause however. i have been feeding him more lately, not sure if thats the cause but i guess i'll give it a few days, then do some more water changes and add some aquarium salt. i've never had to add salt but i hear good things.

40% is perfectly fine.....

If you try and feed and he doesn't eat make sure to take out the food, to avoid compromising the tank parameters. Have you added any other fish to the tank recently? Different diet/food? Decorations? Give him a few days like mentioned, I'm sure he will come around, if he doesn't eat and is still darting around, make sure and try and get some pictures if anything visible is on him, so if you don't know you can ask on here, other than that good luck!

Nope nothing has changed. i added decoration to my other red devil tank, she's doing fine!

i'll actually take some photos later when i get home.
