Hey guys, I got a GT and a EBJD. The EBJD has the white stringy poop and is not eating. I put in him in a 15 gallon "hospital" tank that I had already established. He is in there alone and I gave him the Jungles anti parasite tabs. Should I have medicated my main tank or was it best to remove him for special attention? I really don't want to lose this little guy, did I make the right move? Should I do anything else?

you just have to be patient, with many internal parasites you will need more than one round of treatment

moving him will probably help him as he wont get stressed by tank mates, leave him in there with the lights off all time and treat with melafix, do 10% wc daily and try to feed him different food's, main thing is to get him eating again.

keep us updated

Thanks guys! He is about 2 and 1/2 inches.. I have just been offering him bloodworms so far. Has not eaten yet but, I won't freak out unless he goes a week without eating. Hopefully this medicine works within the next few days

Stop feeding. Follow the instructions on the JPC box. You may need to repeat the treatment again.

Once you have done 2 rounds of JPC, try feeding a tiny bit of Blood Worms soaked in metronidazole (active ingredient in JPC and many other mediacations). If he still doesn't eat, don't keep feeding.

Sadly, most times this means death to EBJD's unless caught right away and treated immediately.

Adding Epsom salts help but don't crank the heat. High heat will stress the fish and you want to have the least amount of stress. I would leave your lights off too.

yeah I had an EBJD that had the same thing and didnt make it =( I lso didnt have a tank to put him in either

I have saved 1 EBJD from this and had another drag on for months showing improvement then declining over and over again. I eventually put it out of it's misery after it really went down hill.

Also be aware that even if the ebjd recovers, you're going to have to treat the main tank as well to be sure he doesn't get re-infected. Most fish survive ok with the parasite, but can then infect other fish (become carriers). The ebjds make lousy carriers, because the parasites kill them off.
