Post your water perameters Ammonia, Nitrites, nitrates, Ph and hardness if available. Also has anything changed recently any new fish, decor anything you can think of would be helpful.

My friend in a pet store tested the water the ammonia, nitrite and nitrate was perfekt. Ph. Is 7,5 don't know the hardness. No new fish or decor. And my firetrack eel in the same tank and all the other fish in det tank are doing good

It is diffacult to say for sure what this is. I'm leaning towards a fungal infection. You could treat with Malachite Green at half dosage and API Triple Sulfa at full streingth. Do a 50% water change before and wate at leas a half hour after adding water conditioner before adding meds.

Still would like to know the actual water parameters. Eels can also get fungus from scraping on decor that is rough. They prefer more acid ph as these guys get bigger. How big is your tank?

Ammonia Is 0 ppm. Nitrite is 0 ppm. Nitrate is 15 ppm. Raised the temp to 83. The tank is 125 gallon. I removed a rock it might could scrape it on. I will do 50 % water change every day and add salt. He seems better but still not good

Fire eels like a ph of around 6 to a max of 7. The temp should not stay above 82 for long. They like quiet con specifics and fine sand for a substrate. They are scales fish so they scratch easily and develop fungus. Do not put much salt in as these guys do not like it. They are not active during the day but at night they can get a bit more active.
