Dumping that many fish in a small tank with "double" the filtration needed can still send the tank into a mini-cycle.

Yes I do agree but it wont be as big of a impact, because the filter and can handle some.

You still only have 29 gallons of water that is already overstocked. You ask for help or suggestions, but still don't take the advice given by the many. Good luck.

I would never call it overstocked , I was asking for advice about how to heal/help a sick fish.

How often are you gone for days at a time?

Oh, and pickerel are one of the species that will overeat.
never heard of it have you had one do that, or just going on what others have had happen.

I really have to agree with everyone here your tank is probably already overstocked and leaving feeders in the main tank is a bad idea. How many days are you leaving your fish alone? I'm sure they can go longer with out food than your gone. I think that the answer to your sick fish question is probably that the fish is over eating and your water quality may be poor. You should qt your feeders any way as feeders are a great way to get your fish sick.
