Do you have tea tree oil? That's about all melafix is.

Only in my shampoo... :( Will definitely have to get some tomorrow and continue with the water changes.

Sounds like a case of Dropsy bro...increase temp to 32-34 degree Celsius , add Lots of salt and do 50% water change daily. Rest assured, u will notice positive changes in 2-3 days.

Currently up to 2 cups in 220g of water how far should I go?

Craig

+1 to the wife she has a tiny bottle of Organic Tea Tree Oil in her stash of essential oils. How much should I add, I put in a few drops in off to google around.

So for reference if anyone wants to know how to make melafix: www. aquaticcommunity. com/*************/ archive/index.php/t-45675. html

1ml Tea Tree Oil
99mL Distilled water

Or if dosing pure oil 0.50mL per 100g of water.

Add salt/medication when u can watch the fish closely for sometime after the treatment so that any uneasiness can be easily spotted.I would add a whole packet(1kg) of salt with raised temp and increased aeration and watch him closely. But make sure that u change water daily for the next couple of days and also, pre-heated water is to be added, else the sudden temp fluctuations can be detrimental to the already weak fish.

Stop adding all these medications, SALT,HEAT AND WATER CHANGES solves almost all problems,at least in my case.

My guess is he will be dead by the time I get home tonite. At this point he can barely keep himself up right and his tail seem to almost completely have disinigrated. If he is still alive when I get home I will reassess the situation and post an update but right now it isn't looking good.

Sorry I just now saw that you asked about the tea tree oil. How is he doing? With his gills showing signs of stress I would pump up the oxygen exchange in the tank too by adding air stones.

Wife called me about 6:45 this morning and he has died. Not sure what I want to do if I want to try another one or what way I want to go. There was alot of money in him and the wife isn't happy. Thought about getting a silver but not sure I can provide for them in the long term years.
