you dont use marine salt.... buy kosher salt... 3# per 100 gallons... and i would do about 6 50% waterchanges in a row to flush the tank...

I thought rays were sensitive to big changes in water parameters...

Or is it ok in Pesh's circumstances?

If u did 6 nr. 50% wc's in a row, will this not have an adverse effect on the ray? and other fish in the tank.

I have just seen his gills and they appear to be both white and flakey with lose skin. This could point to the breathing problems. Hopefully the treatment will start to take effect and he will start to feel better before he looses too much weight.

Sounds bacterial for sure. Too late for the uv to help right now. Start treating with Binox, Even better use a triple sulpher.

They are sensitive to changes in the water, but as long as you don't do anything fancy to your water like adjust pH or mix with RO water then they will be fine. I use conditioned tap water and my pH and hardness stay steady with minimum to no change. With that being said, my tank water is comparible to my tap water minus the nitrate build up.

Thanks for all the advice. Today all the loose skin has now gone and the open wounds appear to be healing. He's almost behaving like normal except for the fact that he's still not eating. I'm trying all sorts to get him to eat but I figure he will start to feed again soon. Thanks

A big thank you to all the help and advice I have received on this forum. He ate this morning for the first time in 5 days, he had about 4 market prawns and ate a whole large earthworm. I'll feed him again tonight. He was very aggresive when eating and looked starved, but he's allready looking like he's bulking up again. His skin on his gills is still red but is healing for sure. His general belly colour is quite red so I shall continue to treat for the next two days and then see where to go from there. I'll post some pics soon and thanks again to all your help. Pesch
