this movie of yours had better have a good semblance of realism to it
The animal parts, yeah.
You see a sea turtle's flippers cut off by the natives.
But the horror movie element of course, is up to the eye of the beholder.

What makes this movie so disturbing is that the camera dwells on the gore rather than eluding to it or giving a brief glimpse.

I've seen some pretty intense horror films. More than I care to say.
This one's up there.

I also have heard that this is one of the sickest movies of all time.
Yes all the animal scenes are real and the other scenes are extermely realistic, so much so that the director had to bring all the actors on a tv show and prove that he didn't have them killed for the movie. This movie has been banned in more countries than any other. IMDB has some neat facts like this is one of the top 10 grossing movies of all time in Japan. :screwy:

To keep things fair, I have also heard that this movie is overrated and not as bad as its reputation. Most people that I have listened to rate this 4th after the 3 movies I mentioned in my first post. I will be ordering the 25th anniversary completely uncut version, including the special feature with the REAL executions when it is released 10-25-2005. I also will be getting the 3 other movies in my first post shortly so I will let everyone know which one is the grandaddy of the sicko movies.

good cut up scenes..turtle death and all that..ALSO THE IMPALING SCENE..but one of the worst written horror flicks(a snoozer)...you can say that the film is tha father of the blair witch movie..lol..there were a bunch of these made in the late 70 early 80..cannibal movies..(CANNIBAL APOCALYPSE,CANNIBAL FEROX,CANNIBAL MAN)..ferox being the best of them..also a banned vid...(HUGE horror fan..seened everything you can think of.)
lets see a good horror movies check out "deep red" "demons""suspira"..awesome flicks ..awesome ending..a very rememberal ones..directed by dario argento..city of the dead directed by lucio fulci ..another great flick...they have a drill scene..ah..i'll let you rent it and find out for yourself..."i spit on your grave" is also a twisted flick..not scary...but very gruesome rape scene...which they shows.. :WHOA: ''the beyond" also another great flick..eye poppin, german sheperd ripping, tons of blood".. :headbang2

lol.. at "meet the feebles"..or as i call it the muppets on crack..great flick.had me cracking up ..found it very interesting..ever seened his first flick "bad taste"..bad ass flick...halirious with excellent kill scenes...highly recommand it

I have city of the dead. I like fulci's movies. Have you seen don't torchure a duckling? I have heard that is his best movie.

Another zombie film that is good.

Let sleeping corpses lie/ living dead at manchester morgue

One of the worst movies I have seen is Zombie 90': Extreme Pestilience.
Looks like it was shot with a crappy VHS camcorder. The dubbing is beyond bad. Seriously I have dubbed movies better that this when I was in high school. Worth watching because it is almost funny how bad it is. Trys to be gory but being so unrealistic it comes up short.
Other movies I don't recommend unless you are really bored or want to see as many horror movies as possible like me:
Zombie 3,4,5- riding Romeros and Fulci's wave. bad, bad, bad.
Premortus: lord of the living dead

As I mentioned before, Fulci's Zombie is a very good Zombie flick. Pretty gory.
Has one of the most amazing scenes in any movie to me... It's an underwater scene where a zombie meets up with probably a 10-12 foot TIGER SHARK. All real, the stuntperson quit when he found out what the scene was, so they used the sharks trainer. Trainer???? Never knew tiger sharks could be trained. It's only a few minutes long but it just seems amazing to me, maybe because I'm extremely AFRAID of sharks. Maybe they gut loaded the shark before the scene?

indeed "zombie" is probably one of the best zombie films ever made..the others that followed that name are horrendous flicks...just horrendous.."let sleeping corspe lie" is also a waste of time..don't bother...just saving you time....don't torchure a duckling is not really a horror flick its more of a suspense filled, who dun it."the beyond" was fulci greatest flick imo..beginning to end has you at your edge..he also did "house by the cemetary"...frankstein kind of a flick..descent..with horrible ending...another great director is mario bava...he's the director that sean cunningham copied from, took kill scenes and add them his friday the 13 franchise..(Twitch of the Death Nerve was the flick) also came out with "Beyond the Door II"..another good flick..another awesome director that gets no credit is "umberto lenzi"(he directered cannibal ferox) also is another zombie director aswell "Gate of Hell " and "City of the Walking Dead" also has another cannibal besides cannibal ferox "Eaten Alive" has lots of sex and gore..

What about "Last House on the Left"....Have any of you guys seen it? When I watched it, I was like....."?????" I could not believe they made a movie like that...Its a 70's movie....There is rape in it, and a few murder sceans...The one that me was when they were chasing this girl, and they shot her in the back, then she was standing by this tree, and the chick murderer started stabbing her in the gut and ripping out her endtrails....really sureal....
Jen ;)

im not very familiar with most horror flicks, but are any of these ZOMBIE films worth watching after having seen the latest Dawn of the Dead? I think that movie surely must be revolutionary in terms of zombie horror. I just can't look at those slow-plodding zombies the same anymore :\

battle royale
not a horror but crazy none the less.

I think Zombie is definatley worth watching. Good gore, classic in my opinion. The Dawn of the Dead remake/ reinvisioning is not as good as the other 3 "dead" movies. Same goes for Land of the Dead. They just don't seem up to par with the others IMO.

Some other movies in my collection:
Meat Market
Meat Market 2
The Dead Next Door
Undead
The Dead Hate the Living
28 Days Later

Some movies I want to get:
Stacy
Junk
Versus
