Sick of skittish show piece fish!!

I kind of feel like your other fish are the problem.

Loaches, too much energy for Geo's.
Tiger barbs, too big and aggressive for Geo's
Giant danios, to big and active for the Geo's.

Scrap em all.

I would highly suggest keeping them with a lemon tetras school or something similar in size and activity level.

I kept my Geo's with them and once introduced it was night and day. Without them my Geo's barely moved, with them they were out all the time. No joke!

Get like 75 of em and make sure you qt. Something small and no very fast or aggressive.

Good luck. I would also like to see some floating plants.

I was going to suggest a couple of Severums they seem to work well with our Geo's.

With so few Satanoperca in that space, I would think they would just pick a territory seek the area in that territory with the most subdued lighting. I don't think I have kept S. daemon but S. jurapari-type fish can be fairly timid when not kept in a group. I would not use S. jurapari as a "centerpiece" fish unless it was a group of them.

I tend to keep Satanoperca and Geophagus species in show tanks with tanks that are fairly open with a sandy substrate. Without a territory to claim a group will develop a hierarchy over time and usually be fairly active sifting through the sand.

Alternatively, you could bring in a complimentary species such as suggested above like some type of Heros sp.(Severums).

It is a lot of high energy in there.

My money is on stress. Someone is bothering them. It's most likely the Tiger barbs.
I have a Geo redhead tapajos and a geo albaois (i think it's spelled) and they are never skittish.
Jurupari and Daemon geophagus are cuties. Hope they become used to their aquarium and more with you.

I have floating plants in my tank. I think it helps. I suggest getting some plastic plants and just plop them in and let them float should help keep the geos calm.

When I still had my redheads and dicrozoster, they were always out and center. The dicrozoster would come up to the top and wait for food. Guess I'm gonna have to try a few suggestions here and wait to see if the satanoperca's will become less skittish.
