hey guys, need so help and info. my oscar is getting slugish kinda layin on the bottom and curling up. he has kinda lost some of his color. i went to the pet store and they said my water was perfect. but idk wat is the matter with him.

How Big? How big is the "O"? How big is the tank? Tank mates? Decor?

how big is your oscar and how big is your tank? i would do a water change asap and raise your temp. and invest in your own test kit because it makes identifying the problem much easier.

If the "O" is sulking.... Then there is no need for anything. But we do need to know the living conditions, tank mates, etc.

i play on the safe side! lol that is my fall back routine if i think there is a problem in my tanks.

True....me to. but if he's sulking, or just being shy, then there is nothing to worry about.

Off the top......Oscars normally go through "fases" in which they sult on the ground of the tank....They like dogs.....hey are intelligent cichlids....I had a pair of 14 inch Tigers.....Nothing to be worry about.....Now if I keep reading your thread, which I have'nt, hopefully you do not have hem suck in a 20-g tank with an AC70 running 55 degree water..LOL.....

he is livin wit a alge ater 3in and a bala shark 1.5 in. he is about 1.5 inches. the temp is 80. he has a cave to hide in and other rocks. i put a stone in there to pump more oxygen into the water just to help. and he isn't shy i have had him for about a month and the last oscar i had for that same period of time had those symthems and then died. i really dont wan2 be out another 12 bucks. and lastly he is livin in a 55

pet store's are known for testing water and saying its fine when its not.

i would invest in your own test kit. Or even just test strips. The liquid kits are much more acurate though.
That way you can test it every couple of weeks so you know what is normal, then if something happens, you can test it and you will know if something has changed.

Many times, the pet store's vision of "perfect" is all readings at zero. Which is actually not perfect.
Not to mention, they dont know what your normal PH is. So they wouldnt know if you had a sudden spike or drop in PH.

I would keep an eye on him, do a water change. Maybe add some aquarium salt for stress.
