So last night I came home from the girlfriends house and noticed my 5-6" pbass has what appears to be ich. There are two spots on him that appear bigger than the rest - one by his gill plate/where pectoral fin attaches to body, and another larger one on his anal fin. Then then classic ich spots (very few at this point) on his body.

His behaviour still seems normal though and none of the feeders are showing signs of ich either (i assume this is where the problem came from)

Now my problem is, as he is still on rosey reds, i had to treat my growout tank last week with prazi pro as i noticed small white/silvery worms floating around the tank, I havnt seen any of them in a few days so im hopeing i can stop the treatment soon. Obviously I cant use ich meds with the prazi pro in the tank. AND my other problem is my heater - its one of those crappy ones where you cant adjust the temp (stays about 78), and im also out of aquarium salt.

So what are my options here aside from doing regular water changes?

Should I break down and buy a new heater and salt?
Should i do daily waterchanges for another day or so to get the prazi pro out (with carbon of course) and add ich meds?

Iv never treated a pbass before and iv been lucky to not run into any problems in over two years aside from the worms and now this case of ich.

Some of the spots blend in with the spangling on his fins, but you can make out some of the bigger white spots on him. Not the best pics hes still camera shy and doesnt show the best colours when im taking pics unless im lucky and dont spook him.

Kosher salt works, because it's been blessed.

people usually do WCs, aquarium salt and increasing the tank temperature. I just got my payara and juvenile pbass through an ich infection, no salt, just higher temperatures. 86 will kill them; the higher the temperature, the faster the ich dies. I had mine close to 90 degrees and they did fine, behavior wise. Ich was gone in about 2-3 days. imo, ich medications at the store are unnecessary (imo are unneeded chemicals that fish have to adjust to).

Looks like yours is still early in the stage, if this is ich. It'd usually cover the entire body and you'd see a lot more spots on the fins.

Ok so looks like im going to have to take a trip up to petsmart then to buy an adjustable heater as mine isnt temperature adjustable. I know you can get salt from the home depo thats basicly the same as aquarium salt. But does anyone know what the brand is? Or should I just ask an employee there and hope that he knows?

get some aquarium salt while you are at petsmart....and dont forget that new heater. The sooner the better. Dont wait a few days. Go get it now. Up that temp to 86-87. Make sure you have an airstone in there as well. stay up on you water changes and your bass will be fine in no time.

If you slack and wait....the ich will get worse and be harder to get rid of. Go get that heater!

My suggestion would be reducing stress to your fish, something caused this, ich isnt random, its the result of something i.e poor water, flucuating temp, bullying, bad food etc and if you dont figure out whatever variable is out of whack then your likely to be going at it for some time, spring is here and your tap water mite have some changes in it that your fish arent used to, like more chloram/chlor/calcium etc (assuming you do WEEKLY changes) it could even be stray current which is why a grounding probe is a good idea!

Dont bump too 90 imo. 84-86 is a good start add your salt (let it dissolve in bucket first!) And turn the lites off for a few days and let him rest and rejuvinate, basically just dont stress him w/ constant movement!!

you never mentioned water params, yea you said the waters fine but ive heard that a million times then i hear is .5ppm of ammonia bad?? Lol

Anyways best of luck!
