My suggestion would be reducing stress to your fish, something caused this, ich isnt random, its the result of something i.e poor water, flucuating temp, bullying, bad food etc and if you dont figure out whatever variable is out of whack then your likely to be going at it for some time, spring is here and your tap water mite have some changes in it that your fish arent used to, like more chloram/chlor/calcium etc (assuming you do WEEKLY changes) it could even be stray current which is why a grounding probe is a good idea!

Dont bump too 90 imo. 84-86 is a good start add your salt (let it dissolve in bucket first!) And turn the lites off for a few days and let him rest and rejuvinate, basically just dont stress him w/ constant movement!!

you never mentioned water params, yea you said the waters fine but ive heard that a million times then i hear is .5ppm of ammonia bad?? Lol

#1 S. Vettel

I did not mention my water params, so I dont knowwhere your getting "i said my water is fine" from. But its a 35gal wide tank and I do 2 waterchanges a week of about 35%. I dont see the point of buying a home test kit as I usualy bring water samples up to my buddy who works at big als and everytime the tests are spot on but with soft water. HOWEVER the night I came home and noticed the ich there was a dead feeder at the bottom literary eaten down to the bones from the snails - I took it out right away but obviously it could have been dead in the tank for 24 hours before I noticed. I know this could have definatly contributed to the problem im having.

Tonight I picked up a new heater and aquarium salt, im about to do a 50% waterchange after I write this post. Should I continue to do daily waterchanges with the salt and higher temps? Its been a long time since iv had any ich issue so I pretty much forgot all about the treatments, as in the past I would just use meds. But I would rather stick with the more natural method for this guy.

i dont think vet meant to be insulting.. im sure he just means that *everyone* says their water is fine. yes, water changes would help eliminate the population of ich. as you increase temperatures and they stop multiplying, you're slicing the population everytime you do a WC

Ok, i just started the syphon in the tank, heaters in (not turned on yet) and I will progressively add dissolved salt into the tank over the next few hours. My bass still isnt showing his usual bright vibrant colours :( I feel bad forthe lil guy lol. But im sure he'll thank me in the next few days. But definatly after this - no more feeders for sure.
