Hi guys,

I have a sick leo at home. He sometimes does this
Is this somekind of sickness?

I measured the water parameter
Ph:8
Amo 1mg
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0
Heater @30 celcius
I always do water change everyday for 25% with seachem prime added to the new water. Salt also added to new water

He eats only little bit, i feed him frozen blood worm.

I wonder why he is standing with his 2 feet?

What should I do?

Thanks for the help

If you are recording ammonia but no nitrate then I doubt your filter is working or matured...how old is the tank?

I suspect 25% per day is too much to be changing.

Why are you adding salt to the water? How long have you been doing this for?

Keep testing the water daily and check the tap water for ammonia too. Don't use dip strips.

Also make sure you have good surface agitation to keep the oxygen levels up.

I can only echo the above, all these questions are relevent,it will be interesting to hear your reply to these.
Good questions and advise Toby.

Sure does look like an uncycled tank.
If they have Seachem Stability in your area that would jump start the bio filtration, and de-toxify the ammonia.
If you have a mature cycled tank the ray could go into until your water is stable, I think that would be best.
I don't think the daily water changes would crash the cycle if it was a mature tank, unless it was untreated water perhaps.

thanks for the answer,

You are right this tank is not matured. This is just a spare hospital tank that I used for emergency.
I have been adding salt since the day I start to keep stingray. That was like 4 years ago. Is this wrong? Please let me know if it does....

I tried to upload picture of the sick leo, but it always failed... I don't know why.. so I have to use my flickr account

Do you guys think I should medicate the sick ray in the main tank? because my main tank is quite big. 3000 liter and it has many fishes in it.
But the problem with the hospital tank is that there are no bb form yet, so the ammonia keep on spiking.
This is a very confusing for me...
may be you guys can help me

Thanks

Does the Leo have fin curl? Seems like it may have early signs of it, or maybe it's just how it's sitting near the glass. The pH is a bit high. What's the pH in your main tank?

PH is fine... there are many people that have ph around 8 with rays... it is likely due to the uncycled tank... can you take some of your bio media out of your main tank and put it in hospital tanks filter? that would help get some bb going... and i would get the water parameters right before trying to treat cuz the ammonia could be the problem... how long have you had the ray? that would help also as if it's a new addition or one you have had for some time now?

You are right, the leo does have fin curl. It's not sitting near the glass. It's in the middle of the tank. Ph in main tank is 7.5
My water is a bit high... Can't do anything about it.
I have tried it many years, but still can't reduce the ph
