Hi, I’ve had a 10 inch SA lungfish since about last year and recently he’s gotten very sick. Came back home to find him lopsided floating at the top of the tank... although he was still breathing he didn’t look very good at all. I transferred him to a shallow tank and added methylene blue and an air pump, will be going down later to get salt and antibacterial stuff. Is there anything you guys can do to help? Thanks

Have you got photos, water tests and so on? We need that info to be able to help you more

I forgot to tell y’all that I fed him a pack of bloodworms a while back on Sunday. My nitrates and ammonia levels were quite high after I added the worms but I changed the water the day after I did. I could try to reduce the amount of methylene blue if you guys need a better picture on the bottom, but he’s rather pale on his bottom and on his tail. Always seems to be gasping for air now

I’d remove the methylene blue and place it in regular water that’s dechlorinated. Add some Epsom salt 1 tbsp per 5g. Keep the water low so the fish is barely floating in the water.

You fed a whole pack of blood worms? A little confused on which Sunday you fed was it this last Sunday like 4 days ago? Did the symptoms start right after like on Monday? Why were your nitrates and ammonia off? What are your normal water parameters, how often do you change water, what's the normal tank setup size filtration? Tank mates? Anything new? Do you always feed whole packs of blood worms?

Yeah, 4 days ago. I had no problem feeding him full packs of bloodworms which lasted about a week. Malaysia was on lockdown for a month however so I fed him frozen bloodworms for a while, since Malaysia recently opened up the live bloodworms came back, so I got a pack. This one was a bit screwed up though, so they bombed my water with ammonia. My normal water parameters are around ph 6.5 and he’s in a 20g tank. need to check how strong my filter is. His only tankmate is a 7 inch Senegalus bichir which hasn’t bothered him ever since I first got him in December.

Here’s a better picture of him after I took out some meth blue water. I just ran out of antichlorine so I took a bit of water from my tank, though I’ll be getting some soon.25FBE909-28E2-486D-AE62-B31AD5982E14.jpeg

You have a 10 inch SAL and a Senegalis bichir in a 20 gallon tank?!?!

Update: Added some Melafix and Epsom Salt. He seems to be doing better but it seems like his lower body is what’s keeping him afloat. I would greatly appreciate any help.
