Well guys, I have been tryign to hold this off from you, becasue I feel ashamed of letting him get sick, but I have a bad case of fin rot in my Sea Robin, or atleast I think it is. Here is the situation....

About 2 weeks ago, my lil guy began to get small white spots on him. They just looked like spots. About a week ago, the spots grew bigger, and I noticed they weren't spots, but they were areas where his scales were gone. I also noticed that his fins didnt grow back. Usually his big side fins rip on rocks or whatever, but they grow back the next day, this time they didn't. I did about a 40% water change two days ago. He has several patches of this white skin showin on his lifet side, It is also his left fin in which is deteriorating. Unable to get to a fish store with medication, which is about 40-50 mins away, I could only get to it tonight. They hold all they medication behind the counter, and they are good store, so I trusted them, but I get home. Put the "fast dissolving" tablets in the tank, and they dissolve wicked slow, so I get a little nervous, and look on the inide of the box, EX 1/04, and I lost it completley. So now I need to go back tomorow and get some new meds. He is eating normal, and acts normal. The eel, and the one last minnow in the tank show no signs of illness. It is still only on the left side of his body, and it seems the big water change has stopped it from getting worse. His right side fin and body are normal looking. I have no extra tanks to serve as a hospital tank. Noithing new has been introduced to the tank except for a couple for crabs, but that was still after he showed signs of illness. I hope the meds work for him, but any other info will help.

I will try to get some pics up in a couple of minutes...

As for aggresors, the only other monster in the tank is the eel. I have only seen them fight during fighting, but the eel always seems to go into a frenzy and bit whatever is infront of it if food is near, so when I plopped food in there for him, he missed and bit the sea robin, but normally, he shows no agression towards him.

Here are two pics of his left infected side

Here is his right side

AHHH, Can I get a mod to move this to the disease forum, I forgot we had that section??!!!!

That really stinks..

Could it be the live feeders with some disease?

Maybe it is because it's a anadramous fish and the osmoregulatory system of the fish has weakened its immune system..

Those things are so cool..

I don't know much about SW diseases, I do some checking.

I don't see signs of disease. What I suspect is that eel is kicking the $^&T out of that Prionotus carolinus after the lights go out.
Fin rot will normally appear as a blanching of the fin and rays with some visible necrotic symptoms. This looks like trauma to me.
Try to get some clearer pics and I'd put a divider for the time being to see if the fins heal on their own once the eel is out of the picture.

i think hes right mike.

seperate them or he will catch something due to stress

Agreed, what I found on bacterial fin rot shaws blanching a whitish slime, the discolorations on the sides look like scrape damage.

Id agree it is finrot and I am sure the eel is not helping. I had a rot that bad with a few of my rams after they got beat up by a grouami. I never noticed it untill it was white or more like white fuzzy looking or something to me and its fins were rotting with a brownish color at the end of the fins it was really gross, needless to say two of them ended up dying b/c it go to bad and I didnt treat it in time so Id suggest that you get the medicane for it asap. If you ever noticed any of your fish beat up one another I ve learned to check up on those fish every day to make sure they dont, open wounds lead to types of rot very easily - or at least thats what I ve learned from my fish and bettas. Anyways I hope you get your sea robin up and running soon! Good Luck.
