ha ha ha, I'm sure he'll come around he looks to be in pretty good shape. Just don't over do it with treatment. Ironically I find people over treat snake heads which just stress them out and makes things worse. Keep him happy, the more he's left alone and stress free the better, combined with clean water he'll recover quickly .

I've had snakeheads recover from MUCH worse wounds on many occasions. Back when I was growing out a breeding pair of asiatica My female bit a tank mate at the neck, she went down the other snake heads spine completely destroying the dorsal fin and then finished off the attack by taking it's tail clean off. Within a month the looser of the fight was completely healed. I did nothing except keep its environment clean and stress free. If all yours has is a tatterd up dorsal fin and a couple bruised scales you'll start probably start to see significant recovery within a week, snake head fins grow back and repair VERY quickly, faster then any other fish species I've worked with.

Also if your planning to separate (and is not too late) then I'd recommend leaving the injured guy in it's current tank move the tankmate into the new tank/QT tank. Keeping him in the tank that he's used too will significantly reduce the stress levels, in my experience one of the worse things you can do to an injured or ill snakehead is move them into a new tank they are very territorial I think loosing that territory is very stressful to them.

I've had very few snakeheads die from injuries or illness when left alone in there tank, on the flip side but I've had even fewer survive if I moved them into a new home while injured and or ill. Don't panic if you've already moved him, yours doesn't look to be in horrible shape and will likely pull through either way but if you haven't done it yet then i'd just do several WC's to remove any salt, and then set the gachua up in a new tank.

well that ship has sailed, i went into panic mode and moved him into the qt tank with his 50% his old water and 50% new water, but i will bear in mind what you said for future, i will move him back home when he is all healed up.

thanks again, i will update on any improvement.

Good luck ! I look forward to seeing the next set of pic's once's he's back in shape!
