Yes, just dab with a q-tip. HOWEVER, don't use peroxide if the wound is deep. Using HP on a deep wound will actually make it worse! (If it is deep, using PP would actually be safer).

I would first try the salt-paste first. Salt is a good anti-septic in high concentrations.

Good luck and keep us informed! :headbang2

ok so I am pretty sure its Flexibacter columnaris, the area around the open wound looks exactly like the "saddleback" that apears in the pictures when I google it. What really sucks is all the conflicting information I have read, every site says somthing differant, some say maracyn works others say it does nothing, some say raise the heat some say lower the heat, etc.

Has anyone actually dealt with this before??? any help would be awesome.

Also Alex I tried the salt paste this morning, but so far nothing, How many times do you do it before noticing a differance?. I will try later tonight also.

Sorry for your loss. Uaru's are pretty hard to stabilize once something goes wrong.

Sorry I wasn't able to come on MFK the last couple days, was hard pressed on work.

Yes, columnaris is a real pain in the ass once it starts going. I have yet to save a fish from a heavy columnaris infection.

Keep your head up. Now you have an excuse to go out and buy another tank mate :)

Good luck! :headbang2:headbang2:headbang2
