my umbee is a bit sick he has a small area of white at the front right eye the tank has been up and running now for about 6 weeks i thought it might be du to the tank having new tank syndrom all looking good nitrite 0 nitrate 10 ppm run out of amonia test fluid but if nitrite is nil and nitrate is 10 the bio must be working the other eye has in so faint you almost can see it i dont want to use drugs new silicone 3000 litre tank i thought add some salt and switch on constant water change no food for 2 days, see if i can flush the tank can do 500 litres a day was thinking of putting in melafix extra strong 1 but thought i would leave it a week to see if it will clear up 4 days not worse but not better, i dont want to remove him cus there are other cichlids that will not like him being put back in later if you know wot mean all other fish are all fine.. it did look like at first he scraped himself on the flank and he got is eye not sure?had to mail order the melafix can get large amount off the shelf round here.what do think do eye things clear up on there own .

ya , i think it will clear up on its own . umbee's love freshwater and salt .i would try that first . that is a real nice umbee . female or male ? looks female with the black dot but he or she is nice either way ...

i have not taken him out yet some 1 else said hold off for a week or 2 if it does not get worse keep him in there thanks for that hes still feeding well, i will just wait a bit .

Even though your bio is working some fish are more comfortable in much older water.

I would get the PH up to 7.4/7.6 or so.
This will help stabilise it just in case all the bogwood you mentioned is pulling the ph down.
Mine like 7.6 and a touch of rift lake salt too.

Looks like a scrape that has mild infection......

Goodluck.

Melafix. If you suspect bacterial infection, Pimafix. Salt the tank and change the water more aggresivly. Your not going to hurt anything with 50-75% water changes. Its cheap insurance.
