Hi,

I brought home the high fin wolf fish from my classroom a month ago, and now he's not doing very well. For the week or two after moving him, he ate market shrimp very well, now he hasn't eaten for a couple of weeks. I'd say that's not a big deal, but he also doesn't move much, and looks like he's struggling when he tries to move. His mid section looks like he's really full (not overly bloated, just full) even though he hasn't eaten in a couple of weeks.

Any ideas?

Oh yeah, and the water parameters are

Nitrates < 20
Nitrites = 0
Chlorine = 0
PH about 8.2
Hardness about 50
Alkalinity about 150

Thanks

Can't see anything else. He just sits at the bottom of the tank and works his gills pretty hard. He was pretty stressed during the move, but that was over a month ago.

Sorry, I forgot about that.

Temp is at about 82, I do about a 15% water change every week. I haven't done a water change since the fish has been acting sick because the nitrates are still low, and I didn't want to stress him.

keep mine 6.5~7.5 PH 8.0 + might be ok but seems a bit high to me, Im not 100% sure but a quick search on this forum should confirm.

I would do a 50% WC right away. It might stress him a little but there could be something in the water causing this.

Thanks for the info. I just checked on him and it looks like it's bloat. He's not got the red around the anus, and the scales are protruding. So at least I can try to remedy the problem. Thanks for the help

I would also suggest frequent water changes every other day. It wouldn't hurt to keep the lights off in the tank either.
